what a wonderful and joyful puppy day we had with the many families from both Layla x Blucher and Daisy x Blucher being able to attend and meet their puppy for the first time.

layla gave birth to her first puppy in the early hours of friday morning.
With great calmness and ease, she went on to have 13 puppies all delivered by 1.30pm. The colours of the puppies range from light to dark red. Mum and puppies are doing well. Due to the high number of males in the litter, 10 in all, we have boys available looking for their forever home. and so the countdown begins...Layla and Daisy are expecting their litters this week. Both girls are blooming and somewhat enjoying their pregnancy, so far so good, lets hope it stays that way.
Layla is due Wednesday and Daisy Sunday. The girls are not showing any signs of going into labour early. I shall keep you all updated. Lilly, just 2 months short of her 8th birthday, has no intention of ageing. With her wonderful, athletic body and her youthful disposition, she has the look and athletic prowess of a dog half her age.
Lucia looking fabulous 6 months after her litter...I am so proud of my boys and girls. And its still rainingI must admit that i'm jolly fed up of all the rain that continues to fall heavily making our dog walks wet and mucky. Its time that we had some sun and warmer weather..soon i hope!...however, Karen did take a look at the weather forecast and told me to groom up lara and Hugo so they could have their photos taken on one of the very few clear days that we have had...so we took Lara to Ogmore by sea for her photo shoot, where she modelled collars by Ziggy and Elbow and Hugo to Roath Park in Cardiff. Lara has just turned 2 years of age and has turned into a beautiful girl. An athletic girl who, like the others, takes huge delight in playing and retrieving the ball. HugoAt 7 years of age, Hugo is more handsome than ever!..strong, determined, kind and gentle, Hugo has matured into a devoted and trusted companion.
At bed time, he will ask to come onto my bed where he cwtches up and stays until he hears Roger coming up the stairs. He then jumps off and lays by the side of the bed alongside all the other dogs until its time to get up...usually around 6am.... Puppy day arrived on a very cold and snowy morning, so unfortunately a couple of our new puppy owners could not make it due to the extreme weather conditions, however, puppy day went ahead and we were joined by very happy and joyous new puppy owners.
At 2 1/2 weeks, Lucias beautiful babies began to fade...one by one we lost 5 puppies over the course of five days. To say that I was living a nightmare is an understatement....we have no idea why...we have had 2 autopsies and samples sent to the laboratory ...nothing has shown up. Internal organs were healthy and vets have only to say that it was a virus.
The remaining 5 puppies were completely unaffected and are big bonny babies who are in the process of being weaned. I'm heartbroken beyond words. here are the 5* puppies at 3 1/2 weeks I am overjoyed to announce the safe arrival of Lucia and Hamish beautiful litter of 10. Mum and puppies are doing great...puppies are feeding well and lucia is relaxed and happy being a new mummy.
I was able to give Lucia a quick bath and blow dry whilst Karen came to watch over the puppies and take these gorgeous photos. |
